Ukuleles are fun and practical instruments that are not a big financial commitment. Whatever your age or your music level you will have fun learning and playing this instrument.

You can distinguish 4 different types of ukulele categorized by size. There is the soprano ukulele (the most popular), the concert ukulele, the tenor and the baritone ukulele. With the rising popularity of the ukulele and its practical size, the guitalele, a guitar the size of a ukulele and the Ubass a small size acoustic bass were created.

With more than 200 models available in our store, where can you start to find the perfect ukulele ? What is the best brand and model? We analyzed dozens of models available and here are our conclusions :

 

1. Best value for money 

 

The UP100 by Cordoba one of the best value for money ukulele model available today. This concert size ukulele is sold with a complete kit (case, pick, tuner, strings, etc.) and we haven't found a better overall deal. It's a wooden instrument made by one of the top companies and it's a great model with a great sound at a reasonable price.

Another good contender for best value for money is the Makala MK-S (soprano size). It’s gorgeous, affordable, durable and one of our best-sellers! The only thing is you will have to budget for extra accessories since it's sold alone.

 

 

2. Best ukulele for young kids (5 to 9 years old)  

The Kala Waterman is everything you need if you are considering purchasing an instrument for your kids. It's one of the most solid instruments, ideal for young kids and it's easy to wash and available in many gorgeous colours. It's a no-brainer!

 

 

 

3. Best ukulele for preteens (10-13 years old)

 

Impossible to choose between the Kala Ukadelic and the Mahalo Rainbow. These colourful instruments are sold at a very reasonable price (less than 60$) and your biggest concern will be to choose a colour between the dozens gorgeous ones available! 

 

 

4. Best ukulele for teenagers (14 years old and above)

 

We love to recommend the Flight Serie Artist and the Surf Series by Kala to parents wanting to buy a special instrument for their teenagers. These all have gorgeous and unique designs that are bound to be cool enough for your teens!

5. Best budget friendly ukulele (less than 60$) 

 

Wooden ukulele :  Mahalo Series "Island" are the best wooden ukulele available for less than 60$.

Colourful ukulele : the Mahalo Rainbow is less than 50$ and they are THE economical option!

 

6. Best high-end ukulele (150$ and above)

 

Cordoba ukulele are generally more expensive but keep in mind that they are made by hand and deliver an amazing sound and unique pieces. They are durable but you will want to consider purchasing a humidifier to ensure that your new instrument stays in great shape!
