New seminar for music teachers

Ensemble, ça s’enseigne !

Toward a Renewed Approach to Collective Music Practice

In Quebec’s music education community, numerous professional development opportunities are offered each year. The field is rich, exchanges are diverse, and many individuals and organizations within our musical community are actively working to support the growth of music education across the province.

However, school realities vary widely, particularly due to the different levels of education. This limits the possibility of universal training options. The diversity of educational contexts calls for tailored professional development offerings.

It is therefore in response to this observation that we present the first seminar in the province specifically dedicated to music teaching for wind and percussion ensembles, as well as jazz and guitar ensembles.

Have we meaningfully built training structures that encourage spaces for sharing, learning, and pedagogical development?

New Congress For Band Conductors

Designed as a professional development gathering featuring peer-to-peer exchanges for music teachers, student teachers, and directors of senior ensembles alike. In the spirit of a collaborative community, participants will find answers and solutions to the organizational challenges, as well as the pedagogical and technical questions they face.

From brass pedagogy to conducting, including the analysis of wind band, guitar, and jazz ensemble repertoire, as well as musical arranging, you will develop comprehensive expertise. From instrument repair to inventory management—without forgetting initial approaches with Secondary 1 students and group teaching techniques for pop ensembles—discover a rich, practical, and inspiring program. A 360° exploration of the vast world of music pedagogy awaits.

The “Teaching an Ensemble: It Can Be Taught!” seminar will bring together, over two days, a wide range of workshops led by experienced clinicians. Their goal is to provide techniques, knowledge, and skills that will enhance your teaching—whether in the classroom or with your ensemble—and that can be immediately applied in your daily musical practice.

Don’t miss this exceptional opportunity to gain fresh ideas, build your technical and pedagogical toolkit, and share your innovative practices with colleagues.

The Art of Teaching Music at the Secondary Level will bring together, over two days, a wide range of workshops led by selected clinicians. Their goal will be to provide practical knowledge that participants can take back to their classrooms and immediately apply in their daily teaching.

A valuable opportunity to gain fresh ideas, gather pedagogical tools, and share innovative practices with peers.

“Knowledge is the only thing that grows when it is shared.”
